Applications:       Pentamid CI2 is widely used as a corrosion inhibitor in metal working lubricants including: cutting oils, drilling oils, grinding oils, rolling oils. When dissolved in the mineral oil at a suitable concentration to provide 0.1% of Pentamid CI2 in the end-use aqueous emulsion, this additive provides the following advantages:
  • excellent protection against corrosion (this can be demonstrated by the "Herbert Corrosion Test")
  • increased lubricity - stabilisation of the aqueous emulsion
  • protection to the skin of the operator (Pentamid CI2 is a fatty acid diethanolamide and contains no sodium nitrite or other inorganic inhibitors)
  • low foam in order to prepare clear oil concentrates with Pentamid CI2, coupling agents such as unsaturated fatty acids, oleyl alcohol, glycol or traces of water may occasionally be required. Slightly higher concentrations of Pentamid CI2 should be used in the preparation of transparent soluble oils.
